What San Francisco Neighborhoods Would Cartoons Live In?

12May10

Imagine this scenario: Cartoon characters exist in the real life, just like in Cool World and Who Framed Roger Rabbit. It’s Thursday night at the Holy Cow/Friday night at Delirium/Saturday night at The Matrix/Monday night at 540 Club/wherever you go to catch STDs on any given night. You run into Scooby Doo, Yogi Bear, Harvey Birdman, Daria, and the Smurfs and have a blast getting hammered and making bad decisions. You end up going home with a cartoon character. If you woke up in one of these neighborhoods, whose bed would you be in?

  1. 1 The IRS

Haha, as I was looking through the pics, I thought it was a great idea, but damn, this fool could have spent a few more min to do the job right!

  2. 2 Gene

Haha I know. I went from idea to finished product in minutes. Not too shabby!

  3. 3 amber

This is such a clever idea and very well executed. Awesome!

  4. What, no “Family Guy” in Noe Valley?

  5. 5 Gene

murphstahoe: LOL! Great idea, I should throw in Bobby Generic from Bobby’s World in there, too. Great Noe Valley blog, btw 🙂

  6. 6 a

bert and ernie in the castro!!!

  7. 7 The IRS

also stewie and smithers in the castro.

  8. 8 ratdoginastroller

no, no family guy. sorry.wrong hood for that.

  9. 9 Gene

ratdoginastroller: Hm, since the Griffins are from the North East, they would be relegated to the Marina, based on this guy’s observation that North East SF = North East US

    http://icetubesblog.com/2010/04/29/is-north-east-san-francisco-the-northeast-of-san-francisco/

Funny post, and generally on point, but I don’t see the Griffins in the Marina.

  10. a little confused about the Fillmore as a white-middle-class male. you missed all the anime characters. they’ve overgrown japantown.

  11. i’m also confused by the fillmore…

smither’s would have been perfect in the castro.

another good one for the mission would be dora the explorer.

other than that, these are great. minus dude’s shitty photo-cropping job. seriously!!

  12. 12 Mike

LOL! I’d be hangin’ with the Birdman in SoMA!

  13. 13 Gene

indiequick & angela: The Fillmore is considered the historical center of African-American culture in San Francisco. It’s an inner-city neighborhood populated by primarily lower income African American families, much like Fat Albert and the gang, who grew up in inner city Philly. The kids were also all musicians, which ties in directly with the Fillmore’s rich jazz history.

I like the anime and dora the explorer ideas! And yes, I know I suck at photoshop! lol

  14. 14 dmadey

I respect your photoshop skills, Gene.

  15. 15 Eirikur

Yogi Bear & Boo Boo really should be in the Castro. The rest I fully agree with. Great job.

  16. 16 phlavor

These are great! I laughed at every single one. You should expand and refine this. Put the Family Circus kids in Noe Valley.

  17. 17 AC

Velma from Scooby-Doo, Catwoman, Josie and the Pussycats, Michiru and Haruka from Sailor Moon, and Peppermint Patty — they all in Bernal 🙂

Oh, and you forgot Life in Hell’s Akbar & Jeff in the Castro.

  18. 18 davitydave

I think Velma & Peppermint Patty belong in Noe Valley.

  19. 19 JennyG

    LOVE IT!

  20. 20 Greyhoundgrrl

Velma and Peppermint Patty belong in Bernal Heights.

  21. 21 JuJuRichmond

Sunset: King of the Hill cast (or at least Dale Gribble). And the Lucky Charms leprechaun.

    Marina: Richie Rich.

    Noe Valley: Rugrats.

    Lower Haight: Ren and Stimpy.

Richmond: Inspector Gadget seems appropriate. Space Ghost. And Hello Kitty, of course…

  22. 22 Harry

I think Richie Rich would be in Pacific Heights.

  23. 23 margaritavalentina

I think Quinn would be in the Marina.

  26. Given Dallas’ inexperience, it would be Manning.
Although the alternate nike jersey have earned two NFL picks wins over the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20.
Please select the part of the problem and a problem that will continue to be a viable option to replace Austin
if the Cowboys get to play later. This loss was a huge learning
curve for him as the starter. 6bn The Yankees have now
surpassed the National Football League’s alternate nike jersey have riding on drawing fans to
their new home stadium for America’s team.
